Arm to arm, at the widest point. Add 10 cm each side for the room to breathe, and check it against the wall you have in mind before anything else.
Depth is front edge to back of the frame. Seat height is the floor to the top of the cushion, and it is what decides whether you sit up or sink in. Both are on every page.

5-year frames
Sofa frames, chair frames, table legs and lamp stems are all cut from European oak, ash or beech. No chipboard, no plywood where it carries weight, no metal legs.
A solid frame is heavier to deliver and slower to make, and it is the only kind we guarantee for 5 years: if a joint opens or a rail cracks in ordinary use, we repair or replace it. The frames are joined with mortise-and-tenon joints and glued; the only screws are the ones that hold the legs on, so you can take them off to get the piece through a door.
Wood is not a stable material. Oak darkens over a year in daylight, ash goes from cream to honey, and every joint moves a fraction with the seasons. Each product page says what to expect from its wood and its fabric, so nothing about the piece is a surprise when it arrives.
A joint that has opened, a rail or leg that has cracked, a spring that has come loose from its rail, a slat that has broken. Photograph it and email us. Changes in colour, seasonal hairline gaps and marks on an oiled surface are the wood living, not a fault.
